Here are some common questions that you might have. If you have additional questions that are not addressed on this page please do not hesitate to contact me directly!
When should we schedule our session?
As soon as you know you want a session! Similar to any business, I have both slow and busy seasons. While I always do my best to accommodate my clients needs calling and booking as soon as possible is always best. Click here to contact me about booking!
How do I book a session with you?
Once you reach out to me I will give you call so we can get to know each other a little better. Because artwork is such a huge part of my business we will then meet at a local coffee shop so I can show you all of the beautiful fine art pieces I have to offer you and your family. When you have made the decision to decorate your home with high quality art pieces of your most beloved family members I will send you a contract and you will pay a reservation fee and you will officially be booked and on my calendar!
Is the reservation fee refundable?
Your reservation fee blocks off a time on my calendar for your session, editing, and the time I need to provide you the absolute best customer service and high quality experience you deserve. I will not book other clients during those time slots so as to not interfere with your experience. I take on a very limited number of clients in order to ensure you the attention you deserve! For this reason, your reservation fee is non-refundable.
Where will the session take place?
All newborn sessions take place in my home studio located in Albany Park! I have tons of props, backdrops and lighting that I use to make your photos absolutely stunning. In the studio all of this is on display so you can pick and choose some of your favorite colors. Maternity sessions will take place at a local outdoor location that we will work together to choose.
I don’t want to have to make a trip so close after I give birth, can you come to my home?
I can totally understand these feelings and how overwhelming it can be to have a newborn baby. Some of my other clients have also felt this way. What they have found is that it can actually be relaxing to enter a quiet environment where they don’t have to worry about cleaning or having a guest over. I have everything you will need including a changing table and wipes. I will provide light snacks, drinks, wifi, a comfy couch and rocking chair. Feel free to nap, read, zone out or just chat about being a new parent!
How would you describe your style?
Baby bumps and newborn babies are one of the most beautiful things all on their own! I love to keep everything else simple and neutral so as not to distract from that natural beauty and perfection. This style creates the most timeless photos. I would hate for you to walk home with beautiful photos that just look aged in 3 years because they were taken using some silly prop or the latest Pinterest fad. My goal is to create beautiful fine art that you will want to have displayed in your home for generations. I want you to have photos that you will be proud to show your grand children one day! So I guess in short, my style would be simple, timeless fine art!
What if my kids don’t cooperate?
I have lots of tricks for capturing beautiful photos of all the members of your family. Toddlers can be particularly tricky anytime but especially when they may be feeling some jealousy or clinginess around your new baby. But don’t just listen to me, see what my previous clients have said:
How do I see my images?
One to two weeks after your session you will come into my studio for your viewing and ordering session. You will view your images on a big screen and make your final selections at this time. Please bring anyone with you who would like to purchase images or be part of the decision-making process.
Do you do family photo sessions?
Yes and no. At every newborn session I am sure to take photos of your new baby with you and your partner. Siblings are also welcome in the first 45 minutes of the newborn session so that we can get a great photo of all your children together. If you choose to purchase the baby plan we will capture a great family photo during your 6-month session! Everyone will be a little more rested and your baby will be able to interact a little more and we have a great time!
I do not do exclusively family photos at any time other than the 6 month session as part of the baby plan.
Can I buy digital files?
Yes! Digital files are incredibly valuable because you can print any products as many times as you would like for as long as you maintain the USB and files. The cost of digital files takes into account my time, skill, equipment and creative eye. Sometimes people are confused about the cost, because there is no paper product it seems like digital files should be the cheapest option. In reality, the price of the piece of paper is not what determines the price of artwork but rather everything that goes into it.
I saw some photos I like on Pinterest, can we do those?
I love Pinterest as much as anyone. But it is best used as a very general source for inspiration or style rather than a strict shot-list for your photographer. If we are focused on recreating exact photos then I am unable to focus on really capturing the unique beauty of your family.
If you do choose to use Pinterest to help you plan your sessions – use it for general inspiration. For example, it can be a great tool to determine what style of photography you like so that you can find a photographer that matches that!
